I have a confession to make.  It may startle you because women spend millions of dollars every year to hide this very thing I’m about to share with you.  Are you ready?

I confess, I have grey hair!  Yes, it’s true.

I am 43 years old, almost 44.  I’m good with that.  I’m grateful for my life.  I’ve had my ups and downs, and they all brought me to this very precious moment of right now.  It’s all good.  I have no shame, embarrassment, or baggage around my age.

About 5 to 7 years ago, I began to notice lots and lots of anti-aging products.  I thought – gee, what’s wrong with looking your age? They begin targeting women to look their youngest in their thirties.  Personally, I think it’s a little over the top.  If you’re 30, doesn’t it make sense to look 30?  If you’re 60, doesn’t it make sense to look 60?

I began to color my hair innocently while I was getting a haircut one day.  My stylist suggested a gel like color that would cover my greys, wash out over time, and create no roots.  This sounded perfect.  I’ve been doing that for a couple years, but not right now.

You see, I’m doing an experiment!  I’m testing my authenticity.  According to www.dictionary.com, authenticity is being authentic which means, not false or copied; genuine; real.  Being authentic is important to me.  My experiment is to see how long I can show up for the world as the real me, with grey hair sprinkled throughout my head full of hair.

Oh no!  What will people think?  Honestly, it really doesn’t matter what people think.  I’ll consider what I think, and choose to color or not color whenever I please.

I’ve experimented with being authentic over the summer, wearing no make-up.  It was an easy transition.  Nobody freaked out.  Nobody died.  : )

PLAYTIME:

Now it’s your turn.  What little change can you make to show up for the world as the authentic you?  Please share to inspire and connect with others.
